Views of Expressionism in Greece

An exhibition of masterpieces from the permanent collection of the Municipal Gallery of Athens.

Masterpieces from the permanent collection of the Municipal Gallery of Athens are presented as part of the interesting periodic exhibition “Exceptions: Views of Expressionism in Greece”. Centred on the expressionist painter Giorgos Bouzianis, the exhibition also reveals other significant artists who were “exceptions” in the art scene of their era, as they opposed the academic consensus that dominated Greek art in the early 20th century, while at the same time also veered away from the modernist trends which characterised the 1930s.
