The temporary exhibition “Chinese works of art from the I. and D. Passas Collection”, organized by the Byzantine and Christian Museum, is the first public presentation of objects from the Passas Foundation’s collection of Asian art. Masterful chinese craftsmen sculpt stones and minerals (malachite, amethyst, turquoise, chad, lapis lazuli), as well as white and red corals and transform them into celestial deities, mythological animals, ornate vases and decorative vessels. The exhibition displays the Chinese art of miniature gemstone sculpture and reveals the symbolisms and messages behind the figurines and decorative motifs.
